NCPA PONY OF THE YEAR SEPT 2010 - Wins for New Forest Ponies
Blackwell Jackpot had a great day out at Uttoxeter having qualified in 4 classes this year!
He jumped a careful round in the M&M Novice WHP with Holly Papper to take Reserve Champion Exc 138cm,
and then went on to his first Open Championship Class, over a very challenging course, finishing in 4th place.
In Young Handler, led by Katie Offiler, he finished 5th, and at the end of the day, having had a 6am start,
he put on a lovely show in the large Open M&M Junior Ridden class, with Holly, who completes her last season as a junior.
New Forest Ponies, had great success in this Ridden class, as the Championship was won by a bay Gelding "Willoway Applejack" from Shrewsbury, with Blackwell Jackpot placed third, ahead of some lovely
quality ponies of various breeds
Another New Forest pony, who was at this years Selby show, Sabrina's Bright Spark .... took the Large breeds in Hand Championship,
and 3rd in the Open WHP n/e 138.
August - Vicky Shapton writes:
I thought the NNFS Group may be interested to hear about Lovelyhill Confetti a pony I used to own, handled and backed and then sold to my
instructor. During her time with me she happily explored mine and neighbouring fields, gates and hedges meaning very little! She was
always first in and loved attention. Last week she won the Newcomers Showjumping Competition at the National Novice Pony Club Championships held in Cheshire. This is an open heighted class for 12 years and under. You jump 2 rounds of 75cm and 85cm and then the eight double clears did a jump off. Confetti is only 12.2hh, far smaller than the rest. She jumped last, fastest and clear to win! She ran the forest for the first two and half years, had a foal last year, has won several PC ODE's, huntertrials and won both affilated WHP classes she has entered this year at Staffordshire and Bakewell. She is owned and trained by Kate Harvey and ridden this year by Lucy Robinson. She is by Lovelyhill Cranbourne Heights.
Philippa Hadwen had a good Breed Show, jumping clear in the junior workers, gaining a fantastic 5th, best pony not exceeding 128cm and Johnny Bradford owner ridden qualifier rosette in a huge novice ridden class; 2nd in the Riding Pony, 3rd in the Hunter Pony and best pony, best rider and best pony club member in the First Ridden (despite confusingly standing second!); all this with her 12 hand pony Highfox Hermione.
June 18th - Catriona Cook reports that her gelding Clockswood Theon won the Large Breeds In - Hand youngstock class at Malton Show and was Reserve Champion; he was also 2nd in the hunter pony class; Ladybrook Ammeretti and Sammy Jo Grantham were 2nd in the M&M WHP.
June 13th 2010 - Jade Cannon and her typey Forest Bred gelding Deerleap Ollie qualified for HOYS 2010 in the M&M WHP class, at the Derbyshire Festival of showing. Well done to both of you from all NNFPSG members. A great achievement! (Webmaster note 'I love him because he reminds me of Highfox Forever!') STOP PRESS: We have just heard that 'Ollie' was bred by Mrs Ingram and was sold originally through Beaulie Road Sales, for the princely sum of £89! Talk about a bargain buy. Debbie Offilers Blackwell Jackpot, another Forest bred pony also had a great weekend, scoring wins in the New Forest in hand, WHP and being well placed with Katie in the young handler. What a great advertisement for Forest Bred ponies.
Philippa Hadwen and the diminutive youngster Highfox Hermione (owner bred) got it together at their second show under saddle winning the M&M Open First Ridden and the Riding Pony Class! Qualifying for PUK and Equifest. They also qualified in the Hunter Pony, Novice First Ridden and Young Handler. At their third show they won their first showjumping class, followed by their second, out of big fields and then won the Large Breeds M&M ridden too.
The Highfox Stud would also like to report the birth of a boy....the first in twelve years....Highfox Hallilujah (for obvious reasons!), Dam: Rainy Day Girl Sire Samsons Spy.

Mitten Springtime (Furzley Charaide x Fijal Gemstone) Eileen Jack’s four year old homebred filly had her first try out under saddle recently, coming a very good second to a Connie in a NPS Picton qualifier.
Blackwell Jackpot 'Jack ' had a very successful first outing on Sunday at the NCPA Open Show Uttoxter, he won the NPS Junior Open M & M Large Breeds class with Holly and then stood Reserve Champion, qualifying for the NPS Summer Champs and Pony of the Year. He also came 4th in the Novice exc 138 workers, over a very testing course and 4th in the Picton Novice ridden class. Looking forward to the show in May! Debbie Offiler
Fijal Prelude Some sad news from Mrs Barbara Stiles. Four times Breed Show Supreme Champion Fijal Prelude was put down at home last week. She was 28 years old. The Highfox Stud’s best known ponies are all related to this mare and her most recent ‘Highfox’ great grandchild is due later this summer. The Greencottage Stud in Dorset also have several successful ponies descended from this mare.
Congratulations to Gwen Sawyer's Highfox First Love (Furzley Charaide x Rainy Day Girl) who won her first ever beginners dressage test and was fourth in her second test the Prelim at Liverpool Riding Club's dressage show on the 4th April, ridden by her regular jockey Haley. First Love is just four years old. Update: she won her first novice ridden class too.
First Love working in before the test

NFPB&CS Ringwood Brewery Performance Pony Competition
A little bit of news from the Highfox Stud, Diane Hadwen writes: Two of our homebred ponies and a previous resident have featured in the results in the above competition. We are particularly pleased as both the home bred ponies are by the late Fijal Maestro, one out of each of our foundation broodmares ... Rainy Day Girl and Kingsbury Love Affair II. Very well done to:
Alison Pink and Highfox Hosanna (Fijal Maestro x Rainy Day Girl) for winning the Driving section (Out of Town Trophy), coming third in the novice performance category and fifth overall;
Philippa Hadwen and Highfox Finale (Fijal Maestro x Kingsbury Love Affair II) for winning the best Owner Bred Trophy (Lomonside Trophy) and standing sixth overall:
Cath Harrison, Hannah Carrick and Furzley Charaide for winning the WHP, Dressage, Novice and Stallion sections and standing second overall.
I am so proud of you all; what a lovely start to the year. Thank you!
